Period Costume Portraits
These costume portraits were inspired by a visit to an annual Italian pageant called The Quintana. Local villagers dress up as their ancestors did, creating a real sense of connection with history at the event.
I painted in layers of colour and textures so that the prints would suggest a blurring between the past and the present. It was painstaking work indeed, but I couldn't resist!
