Fine art photographic print of a statue of two children in clouds

I seem to have taken a lot of photographs of unusual statues over the last year. Something to do with the permanence of stone, perhaps, in a world that lacks stability.

I am fond of this image:  a handcrafted piece of wall art that has elements of old and new in its story. A photograph of hope or maybe it's a photograph of a journey? You decide!

I'd been walking with Dora (our rescue hound) last winter, knee deep in snow, exploring the Italian countryside around our house, and I found this little statue. It was half buried in snow and facing away from me, exactly as you see it. It was only about 18" high but very heavy and faced the ruins of an old stone wall that was part of a house that was no longer standing (earthquakes, probably). I never got to see the faces of the children.

I understood the story immediately.  The future of the world belongs to the children, the generations to come. The journey there is an unknown but it'll take courage and hanging on tightly to those things that matter. The bottles of coke were my addition to remind us all to be careful what we take with us as we move forwards.

Print information

The image is printed on heavy, velvety and wonderfully weighty Hanhnemuhle German Etching paper (310gsm). A special paper and you can read a bit about it, if you want, here.

The image is available to buy in these sizes: 16" x 20", 12" x 15" and  8" x 10" (but, as always, if you're wondering about a bigger rendition, we can discuss it).
